About This Spot

La Porta Restaurant feels like stepping into a beloved neighborhood retreat where the warmth of familiar Italian hospitality greets you almost immediately. Nestled on Middletown Road in Media, this cozy spot hums with a gentle, unhurried energy—inviting guests to settle in, relax, and savor each moment without rush.

The ambiance mixes the charm of a traditional roadside inn with the refined comfort of a local wine bar. Whether you choose to cozy up inside near the softly glowing wood-burning oven or enjoy the fresh air on the inviting patio, there’s an approachable intimacy here that encourages lingering conversations and easy laughter. The bar area quietly buzzes with good company and thoughtful pours, creating a natural gathering place after a busy day.

At La Porta, the food unfolds as part of the experience rather than a menu checklist. Wood-fired pizzas arrive with perfectly blistered crusts carrying a distinctly fresh and warm aroma, while pasta and hearty traditional dishes linger with a soulful richness that speaks of careful, time-honored preparation. Each plate reflects a balance between comforting familiarity and thoughtful touches — whether it’s the tender short ribs, a bright wedge salad, or a decadent chocolate torte that rounds off the evening.

What truly sets La Porta apart is the sense of being welcomed into an ongoing story — of a community, a kitchen, and a shared love for authentic Italian flavors. The attentive service feels personal and genuine, while accommodating a wide range of guests, from families to longtime regulars who return for both the food and the atmosphere. It’s the kind of place that quietly reminds you why certain spots become part of your own rhythm and memories.

Happy to hear the new woman chef is gone. We almost gave up on La Porta but now with Chef Justin there, it’s back to the good old days (and better menu). If you stopped going, start going back now! Thank you for making La Porta Great Again!

The 2-for-$25 pizza deal at La Porta is hands down the best tasting pizza deal around. Their artisan pizza is outstanding - cooked in a wood burning oven, with great tasting crust, cheese, fresh tomato sauce. We got the margarita and plain cheese plus a Caesar salad. Great service. Great people preparing your food. Worth a try!

Part of me doesn't want to tell you how good this place is because you will go there and crowd the place; this restaurant is small. However, it is also warm and cozy and acts like a true roadside inn. The cuisine is Italian and everything is fabulous as the chef obviously knows what he's doing. There is a nice bar area and outside patio as well. The happy hour is killer with good food and wine for $6 a glass. Beyond all this is the pizza from the wood fired oven which is incredible. You got to get here if you haven't been!

I went here with my 2 buddies. We sat in the dinging room, which was a little romantic for 3 guys in the 40s. We all loved our food. This pizza was incredible. I held off the onions (because they are gross), but the spice on this was I’m going to come back here with my wife where she can get an expresso martini and a fancy dish and I’ll get this again because it was sooo good.

I went the other day for an early dinner to this restaurant. The food was outstanding. Prosciutto wood fired pizza was some of the best I’ve tried. Service was quick and responsive. I also had my 9 month old in tow and the staff were extremely accommodating and friendly with a child present. The high chair was waiting for us at our table. Atmosphere was great. Music at the right level in the dining room to allow conversation to continue at the table at normal volume. The bar area seemed very lively and a great time during the Saturday games but I did not go into the bar area.

We stopped in for wine and dessert having already had dinner. They happened to have a musician playing so we chose to sit on the patio so we could still have a conversation. The wine was good and the dessert, a flourless chocolate torte, was tasty. We did end up at the bar a little later due to a key incident and ordered wine and a cocktail. I guess she didn’t understand that we wanted the cocktail so she didn’t make it for us. Oh well! It was an eventful evening for sure.

We had a sensational meal last night at La Porta. We tried so many things, so just some of the highlights were the pork belly, the wood fired polpo, and the beet salad. I was full but still had to have a gluten free pizza, which I have been going there for, for years. I want to go back again soon for their great, revolving selection of fresh oysters. There are just so many incredible options on the current menu, it’s hard to decide. And we were able to order a few great glasses of wine that paired perfectly with our meal. Kudos to the whole team for making our meal so special.

Absolutely loved La Porta! The food was truly exceptional – some of the best Italian I've had in a long time. The pizza and gnocchi were particularly delicious. The ambiance inside was lovely, but we chose to dine outside. While the food was still fantastic, the service out on the patio wasn't quite as attentive as it seemed to be for those dining indoors. Overall, a fantastic experience and highly recommended!
